Chess tournaments in Munich: opens, championships and series 32

Two calendars carry most of Munich's tournament chess. The Schachbezirk München runs the championships: the Münchner Mannschaftsmeisterschaft, the team league of the district's clubs through autumn and winter, a knockout team cup and a league cup on Sundays, individual titles at classical, rapid and blitz time controls, events for seniors and for women and girls, and the youth and school championships. Its open international tournament, the OIS, is played in Ismaning every September.

The second calendar is the Caissa Center's. Its rooms on Frankfurter Ring host a monthly blitz on a Tuesday, a monthly rapid on a Thursday, Blitz-Masters and Rapid-Masters on Saturdays, the Elo-Vierer in groups of four, the Sprint-Cup, the München-Cup and youth tournaments. Around them sit club events such as the FC Bayern quickies, BrainGames in Fürstenfeldbruck and a January benefit tournament in Obermenzing.
