About this list

The places on this page say in so many words that a beginner is welcome, and all of them sit outside the club system. ChessBar München's weekly rapid tournaments run in three bars and need only a registration in the group's app and a drink at the bar; the Chess in Munich Meetup evenings at Café am Beethovenplatz on Mondays let each pair choose how fast to play; the course for older people at the Stadtbibliothek Schwabing asks for no prior knowledge.

Clubs teach beginners as well, mostly through their youth training and through courses such as the beginners' course with a trial session that SV Höhenkirchen lists. Their entries say so wherever a page states it.
