Schnellschach: rapid tournaments in Munich 9

Schnellschach is the German name for rapid chess, games of a quarter of an hour or so a side that allow a whole tournament in an afternoon or an evening. The district plays its rapid individual championship at one of its clubs each season and a rapid team championship in summer, and holds an open rapid championship for women and girls.

The Caissa Center runs a monthly rapid on a Thursday evening and a Rapid-Masters on Saturdays every two months. Young players meet at rapid pace in the TSV Solln Oskar.de cup, played in the parish hall of St. Johann Baptist, and in the school chess championships, where primary and secondary schools enter teams and individual pupils.
